OKLAHOMA CITY -- A surprising storm came through the metro Wednesday night causing quite a bit of damage to the area around the Oklahoma City Stockyards. Thursday people are cleaning up the mess left behind.

A sign, typically welcoming visitors to Stockyards City, is now scattered across the grass.

Just down the street a billboard is knocked over, the huge poles are still in the ground but bent to the ground at the base.

Jim Phillips said, "I thought our roof was actually being peeled off."

Phillips was in Little Joe's Boot Shop when the storm blew through.

He said, "The front door all the sudden flew open."

Ripping a hat right off a man's head.

Phillips said, "He was probably four feet from the front door. It actually sucked his hat off of his head and it flew off."

They found the hat not far from the front door.

All around the Stockyards the cleanup continues.

Many roofs are now in need of repair and signs are torn apart.

Meteorologists say it was all caused by a microburst, but these workers aren't so sure.

Phillips said, "It might not have been a big tornado but I thought it might be a small tornado."

Businesses in that area say they were just hit by another damaging storm within the past couple of months.

They are hoping this is the last bit of damage they'll see for a while.
