    A Jefferson Parish grand jury has indicted a 21-year-old woman on a charge of second-degree murder in the Feb.10 death of her newborn, who was placed into Lake Pontchartrain in Kenner.Ciara Craig of Metairie was indicted Thursday for second-degree murder in the death of her newborn daughter.Craig, who gave birth to the baby girl in her home hours before going to the lake, would spend the rest of her life in prison if convicted of the charge. The autopsy determined the baby died from asphyxia by drowning.Assistant District Attorney Laura Schneidau says the baby was born alive.Craig's attorney, Morris Reed Sr., has argued the baby was stillborn, and has previously described the incident as a "burial ritual."
