  5. Three Hot Spots Identified in Marsh Fire

    During a reconnaissance flight today at noon, the New Orleans Fire Department identified three hot spots in the marsh fire in New Orleans East.  As a result, the Mayor requested aerial support from the state, and the Louisiana National Guard quickly dispatched two 2 UH-60 helicopters with 500-gallon Bambi buckets to fight the fire.  The helicopters are currently flying missions.

  17. Landrieu Announces More than $36 Million in Broadband Funds for Louisiana

    United States Senator Mary L. Landrieu, D-La., Chair of the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, today announced that Louisiana will receive more than $36 million in Department of Agriculture Recovery Act funding to expand broadband infrastructure in underserved and unserved areas of Louisiana.
