  19. SBA approves $1.6 million in disaster loans

    The Small Business Administration has approved 45 Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDL) for Louisiana businesses and workers affected by the Gulf of Mexico oil leak, and the St. Tammany Economic Development Foundation is encouraging businesses affected by the oil spill to apply. To date, SBA has distributed 1,118 EIDL applications and 288 have been submitted.  SBA has approved 45 of the applications for loans totaling $1,682,500.
Loans in amounts up to $2 million are available at low-interest rates and 30-year terms for companies suffering financial losses as a result of the explosion of the Deepwater Horizon on April 20 and the ensuing oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
