Additional road closures after last night's rain include Ashton Boulevard in Luling and Boutte Estates in Boutte. The gate at Hackberry Street in Luling is open to allow access to Ashton Subdivision.

Additional hydraulic pumps are being installed at four drainage structures in the East Bank Hurricane Protection Levee to drain water in the Airline Highway area.

The I-310 onramp from eastbound U.S. 61 remains closed this morning as crews continue to work on dewatering the area. Please exercise caution in this area.

Additionally, a scheduled road closure not related to the rain event will affect traffic through the end of the year in Norco: Valero St. Charles will be working with Shell/Motiva to raise a pipe bridge, which will cause River Road to be blocked between Goodhope Street and Prospect Avenue from Dec. 19 through Jan. 3.

Alternate routes are Apple Street to Airline Highway and Ormond Boulevard to Airline Highway.

The purpose of the road closure is to dismantle and lift the pipe bridge to allow greater overhead clearance for traffic. The current clearance of the pipe bridge is 13 feet 2 inches, which is not high enough for larger elevated vehicles to pass underneath. As a result, these vehicles must travel down Apple Street through residential areas.

The new pipe bridge will have a minimum clearance of 18 feet 10 inches. This will allow greater use of Prospect Avenue by large truck traffic and reduce congestion on Apple Street. For more information or questions, you may contact the shift superintendent at (985) 764-4723.

Crews continue to maintain catch basins and ditches to aid in further drainage. Residents are asked to help the parish identify areas that are experiencing blockages by calling EOC at (985) 783-5050. If you are able, please help to clear drainage on your own property.

Please be cautious of any wildlife displaced by floodwater. Do not approach any dangerous animals. Animal Control is available by calling (985) 783-5050.

The St. Charles Parish Sheriff's Office reminds all residents that it is illegal to tamper with pumping stations. Residents should call (985) 783-5050 to report issues with any parish pump.

Workers continue to monitor all parish pump stations and water levels. Two portable pumps have been added to increase capacity at the Sunset Drainage District's pumping station in Bayou Gauche. That station houses three permanent pumps.

Assessment is continuing for those businesses and residences who have reported damage to the St. Charles Parish Emergency Operations Center. Parish officials are also asking residents to report any damage and/or flooding to homes or businesses by calling EOC at (985) 783-5050. Red Cross and parish damage assessment teams are currently visiting flooded areas based on this information.

Street flooding in the Willowridge subdivision in Luling is largely due to tidal flooding made worse by rainfall. Pumps in that area are fully operational, but street flooding is not expected to improve until tide levels fall.

Current road closures include:
• St. Rose Avenue at U.S. 61, St. Rose
• East Harding Street and U.S. 61, New Sarpy
• Magnolia Ridge Road, Boutte
• Eastbound U.S. 61 onramp from I-310
