In 10 days, Baton Rouge Police expect to conclude their investigation into a bar fight at Shady's Bar In 11 days, the Tigers take the field for one of the biggest season opener's in school history. That timetable doesn't sit well with head coach Les Miles.
“Our team understands the severity of the issue.” Said Miles, “We`re concerned about the timeframe, but I think there are some other considerations as well as whatever the time frame might be.”
Tuesday morning, four LSU football players Jordan Jefferson, Chris Davenport, Josh Johns, and Jarvis Landry sat down with investigators and gave their statements. The players had been implicated as being involved in the fight early Friday morning. At a press conference Friday afternoon there is still a good chance arrests could be made after the investigation is over.
Miles said be questioned in police headquarters served as a wake up call to the players.
“I think there are a number of guys who realize how serious it was. You talk to a police officer about an issue you witnessed or involved in its very serious.”
With all the turmoil, there is a noted change in the atmosphere at the Tigers practice field.
“Light laughter is not something that’s happening to much around the practice field. That hurts your preparation ultimately. If you like to work hard and smile, it hurts you.”
Jordan Jefferson and Jarrett Lee split snaps with the first team offense in Tuesday’s afternoon scrimmage. Miles says his team is remorseful and there have currently been no changes to the depth chart.
