The world famous Carousel bar in The Hotel Monteleone has been spinning around for decades, since 1949.
Since the summer of 2011, the Carousel bar has been undergoing renovations. Now in 2012 the bar's got a new look, but all the history is still there.
Director of Sales and Marketing, Andrea Thornton said the Carousel Bar now has wooden floors instead of carpet.
"Before people wanted to dance. We had carpet, so now this allows them to get up and dance," Thornton said.
From the floors to the walls The Carousel has undergone many changes. They re-painted the walls, and have added flat screen televisions.
"We've added a lot of bling to the bar," Thornton said.
With everyone wanting the chance to get a go-around they decided to add more space. They added a second bar where their restaurant, The Huntroom Grill used to be.
The horse shoe shaped bar doesn't slowly spin like the orignial bar.
"Everyone can still get the great service, but have a drink, and be still," she said.
Guests continue to enjoy all the best The Carousel has to offer. Lots of changes, but the service from bartenders like Marvin Allen remains the same.
Susan Mysliwy of Slidell said, "The moving bar is fun."
James Waller is visting The Carousel for the first time. He said, "It's nice you get 360 degree views. There's a lot of history here."
The official grand re-opening of The Carousel Bar is scheduled for Wednesday, January 25th at 1:30 p.m. It is also a preview party for the upcoming, 10th anniversary of Tales of the Cocktail 2012.
