Reporter Sandra Gonzalez
I came to New Orleans to witness history and report on the region's rebuilding after Hurricane Katrina. Since 2006 I have seen and experienced much more from the political shakeups to the oil spill disaster in the Gulf.
I actually started my reporting career in radio in California. Though my passion is covering all kinds of news; I do have a particular interest in courts and crime stories. I like bringing attention to issues ignored by others.
In my years as a reporter, I've covered many major stories, and some have really stuck with me; from a church massacre in Texas, to those losing loved ones in the War in Iraq.
As a Latina, I have an interest in the Latino community, which is the fastest growing community in the country. But I enjoy learning about all cultures and bringing forth different perspectives.
My reporting has been recognized with numerous awards from news organizations such as RTNDA, the National Association of Hispanic Journalists, and the Associated Press. Awards are nice, but what really matters to me is making a difference by informing viewers.
If you have any ideas for stories, I would love to hear from you at: Sandra@wgno.com.
