Mayor Ben Morris advised that as of now there are NO reports of any homes or businesses flooding. Rain expected in the early afternoon may interfere with dismissal at some St. Tammany Parish Public Schools and/or delivery of students who ride buses to homes in some neighborhoods in low-lying areas. Parents may want to pick up students early. Students picked up from school early will be excused and allowed to make up any school work. If weather conditions do not allow for school dismissal on time, students will remain at school until buses or cars can pick up students.
School officials continue to carefully monitor situations at schools where water could be a concern. The School System's maintenance crews are working in conjunction with municipal and parish maintenance to address the causes of flooding and bring relief to the problem areas.
Due to the inclement weather, some parents may have had difficulty getting their children to school this morning. Any student missing school due to weather conditions will be granted an excused absence.
