St. Bernard Parish is getting a permanent
mental health and substance abuse clinic along St. Bernard Highway
in Arabi, after years of operating in temporary trailers.Officials of the Metropolitan Human Services District, an agency tasked by the Legislature with providing mental health services in Orleans, St. Bernard and Plaquemines parishes, were set to mark the new clinic's opening Friday.
The clinic will offer individual and group therapy for alcohol, gambling and drug addiction, as well as family counseling and other mental health treatment.
Staff will include a full-time psychiatrist, a psychologist, a registered nurse and three behavioral health clinicians.
