Pictures: Plaquemines Parish SO Seizes 'Mojo'
On Thursday October 27, 2011 agents from the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff¿s Office Narcotics Unit visited seven stores in the parish after receiving multiple tips reporting that patrons purchasing ¿Mojo¿ from several local stores were experiencing ¿marijuana like effects after smoking the product. The investigation into this matter began in June of this year.
The agents seized a total of 712 packs of ten various brand named Herbal Incense products totaling 3.54 pounds. Six of the brand name products tested positive for the substances consistent with synthetic marijuana which is banned under Title 40 Section 966 of the Louisiana Revised Statues. Test results from the four remaining products are pending.
All stores cooperated with the agents and surrendered the suspected illegal substance. The stores which were selling the products reported them to be legal. Two stores indicated to agents that they had a private laboratory test the product and their results indicated that the substance was legal.
