to implement new summer programs and continue existing summer programming

in Math and Science.

The grant will support Xavier's award winning Summer Science Academy, the

EPsAR program, as well as new programming in Academic Affairs and the

Division of Education's GLOBE teacher training program.

Xavier's popular Summer Science Academy includes BioStar, ChemStar,

MathStar and SOAR1 and reaches students from 8th -12th grade. MathStar,

BioStar and ChemStar prepare students for their upcoming school year in those

subjects, while SOAR1 is for exceptional students interested in pursuing

science/health-related careers.

Xavier's EPsAR program (Experiential Problem-solving & Analytical Reasoning)

program is a six-week summer bridge program conducted by the Science,

Engineering and Math Educational Programs Office (SEMP), designed to

strengthen mathematics, problem-solving, critical-thinking and reading skills.
