COVINGTON,LA—
At approximately 6:30 AM on Sunday December 20, 2009, a man described as a large heavyweight Hispanic Male, entered the Walgreens Drug Store located at 1203 US 190 Business, the area commonly referred to as Claiborne Hill. Wielding a screwdriver, he went to the pharmacy and demand painkiller type drugs. After obtaining numerous bottles he forced employees to lie on the floor of the business, and then fled the store.Outside a witness observed him get into a White 1997 Cadillac, Deville. The quick thinking witness noted the license plate and was able to provide the number to Covington Police Officers when they arrived. A quick database search found the vehicle registered to an address at 73473 Hubert Flot Road in Abita Springs. Covington Officers accompanied St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office Deputies to the residence and found the man fitting the description of the robber. He was placed under arrest without incident and transported back to the Covington Police Department.
At this time Detectives are working on a search warrant for the residence to try and recover the narcotics. Charges are pending at this time but armed robbery is definite at this time.
