NEW ORLEANS - With Saints Super Bowl fever peaking, locals are coming up with their own T-shirt designs.

Owner Tim Baudier hopes the economy turns around.

With the Saints victorious season and now being crowned Super Bowl champs, business is better at Alternative Tees in Harahan.

"After the Cardinals, I think we did about 750 shirts. After the Vikings we did 3,000-5,000 and we're anticipating 10,000 shirts with our Who Dat designs," Baudier said.

Recently, the NFL got very strict about merchandising, and while it was determined the NFL does not own the term "Who Dat", Baudier says an investigator just came to the shop to make sure there were no trademark issues.

"They're saying that we cannot use anything in conjunction with the words Saints of course, or the NFL or the NFC or anything in conjunction with the fleur de lis, and if we use the fleur de lis, that it has to be modified," Baudier said.

The fleur de lis on his shirts is slightly different than the one the Saints use. And there have been other subtle changes like using tiny fleur de lis designs instead of stars.

And Boudier is proud of his Who Dat shirts, blending Saints fever with Mardi Gras madness, and hoping this ink will put his business even better in the black.

Alternative Tees worked through the night after the Super Bowl, getting shirts ready for sale as people continue celebrating Saints victory and Carnival.
