NEW ORLEANS -
The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office announces the arrest of Jean Lafitte Police Officer Anthony J. Molinario, W/M, 27, of Luling, for the crime of simple burglary of a vehicle.
Molinario was arrested on a warrant issued by 24th Judicial Judge June Darensburg after JPSO Burglary Detective Sgt. Martin E. Dunn III, conducted an investigation into a vehicle burglary behind the Jean Lafitte Town Hall in Lafitte on Oct. 19.
Investigators interviewed witnesses who reported parking their vehicle behind the Town Hall and going for a walk. Upon returning back to their vehicle they noticed the dome light was illuminated and upon looking into their vehicle observed a W/M subject wearing what appeared to be a police uniform inside of their car. The suspect was seen leaving the area in a reddish colored Jeep SUV. They recorded the license plate of the Jeep and notified the JPSO.
Upon learning this information, the suspect in question was identified as Anthony Molinario, a police officer with the Jean Lafitte Police Department. Molinario was questioned regarding the incident and denied and involvement. As the investigation continued, Molinario agreed to submit to a polygraph examination; which resulted in him showing signs of deception.
On Oct. 27, Sgt. Dunn contacted Molinario and advised him of the warrant. Arrangements at this time were made for the suspect to turn himself into Sgt. Dunn for arrest and booking. At 4:23 pm the suspect, Molinario turned himself into Sgt. M. Dunn and was transported to the Jefferson Parish correctional center and booked accordingly.
