KENNER—
An up and down day for cops, volunteers and a family looking for closure...First a body is thought to be spotted...then lost... making for a strange Sunday on the river. For family and friends of the missing Brian Reed, this night is an emotional rollercoaster. "A lot of frustration." says Jvona Sanchez, Brian Reed's sister-in-law.
The frustration has been building since the brother of Baltimore Ravens football star Ed Reed jumped into the Mississippi as he was being chased by deputies two weeks ago.
He never came out of the water.
Sunday, the expert company volunteering to search for Brian Reed's body in the Mississippi River initially said they had a sonar image of a body in the water near the St. Charles - Jefferson Parish line.
A few minutes after that announcement, Kenner P.D. Lt. Wayne McGinnis said this: "Sometime during the time they were getting their equipment ready and the time that they had the sonar reading and positively placed the body in the water, they believe the body has broken loose and is no longer in that spot."
And so the search for the 28-year-old St. Charles Parish man continues, says the company Texas Equu Search...
It's been out on the river all week long, and tells us tonight they've recaptured that sonar image, but that their divers are dealing with thirty-eight degree debris-filled riverwater.
Dangerous conditions for those trying to find a man, who's family and friends just want closure. "They are coping with it the best way they possibly can," says Freddie Dixon, friend of the Reed family.
Tim Miller of Texas Equu Search tells us that members of the St. Charles Parish Sheriffs Office were assisting in the search on the river.
Texas Equu Search is a company that looks for bodies using high tech equipment.
