Down 300 from April and down 800 from May 2008.Goods-producing sector was unchanged over the month, but down 700over the year. Service-providing employment dropped 300 in May and fell 100 for the year.

BATON ROUGE - Up by 300 from April and 1,300 from May 2008. Goods-producing employment increased by 500 from April and 1,800 over the year. Service-providing jobs fell by 200 from April and dropped 500 over the year.

HOUMA-THIBODAUX - Down by 400 from April and down by 500 from May 2008. Both sectors fell by 200 from April. Over the year, goods-producing jobs dropped by 1,200, while the service-providing sector added 700.

LAFAYETTE - Down by 100 from April and down by 1,700 from May 2008. Goods-producing jobs fell by 500 over the month and 1,200 over the year. Service-providing jobs increased by 400 from April, but were down 500 over the past 12 months.

MONROE - Down 1,400 from April and 2,000 from May 2008. Goods-producing jobs fell by 1,100 over the month and 1,400 over the year. Service-providing jobs dropped by 300 from April and 600 from May 2008.

NEW ORLEANS - Down by 800 over the month and 3,800 from May 2008. Goods-producing jobs fell by 600 from April and 1,500 from a year ago. The service-providing sector fell by 200 jobs over the month and 2,300 over the year.

SHREVEPORT-BOSSIER CITY - Down by 300 over the month and 1,700 from May 2008. Goods-producing employment fell by 200 jobs last month and 1,800 over the year. Service-providing jobs were down 100 from April, but up 100 from May 2008.
