At the time it was the only place where blacks could play golf. Joseph Bartholomew golf course was built back in the 1950's in Pontchartrain Park.

The course was leveled following Katrina.

And now nearly four years after that disaster the course is getting restored.

The city will spend nearly $10 million dollars making it bigger and better than it was before the storm. The clubhouse will be renovated as well.

Work will begin sometime this week.
