Endymion doesn't roll Saturday because of rain, but that won't stop people from partying in Mid City. The fun went on and a spontaneous parade picked up where the mega parade wasn't.

Parties were everywhere along the Mid City parade route. Crawfish was plenty, the beer was flowing and the spirits were high. Nothing was going to stop these Mid City people from celebrating Mardi Gras, even Endymion moving its route this year Uptown.

"When life gives you lemons you boil crawfish," said Carly Brown who hosted a large party at her home.

On porches across Orleans Avenue where stages and stands were built for Endymion, people were holding block parties and living it up.

"This was our day and we're doin' it. This is our day," said Stephen Turner.

Not only are they okay that Endymion didn't roll, they started their own parade and as the hours wore on, it just kept growing.

People on both sides of the street cheered on, catching beads, throwing beads and just having a grand time.

"We're throwin' them back and forth and we're havin' a good time, kids goin' down the street walkin' the dog, Endymion is going. Endymion is not here but doin' Endymion spirit right here. This is endymion spirit," said Brad Reardon, a tourist from Georgia.

The weather may have changed the Endymion parade schedule, but it certainly didn't rain on these Mid City residents' parade.
