HOUMA—
On July 29, 2009, at approximately 1:20 p.m. Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office deputies apprehended suspect Adrian Bryce Broussard for the attempted first-degree murder of Deputy Donald Bourg.Deputies and Officers from several agencies including the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries, Louisiana Probation and Parole, Houma Police Department, Louisiana State Police and the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office were in the area of Roland Henry St. in Montegut when they received information from a resident who observed Broussard exit an abandoned house. The resident who lived next door to this abandoned house confronted Broussard at which time, Broussard fled on foot. Several law enforcement personnel already patrolling on Roland Henry St. gave chase and apprehended Broussard several minutes later with no incident.
Broussard was transported to T.P.S.O headquarters where detectives interviewed him. Broussard confessed to shooting Deputy Bourg.
He was then booked with attempted first-degree murder and jailed on a $1,000,000.00 bond at the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex. He was additionally charged with simple burglary, trespassing, possession of marijuana and illegal carrying of a weapon
Broussard had no previous criminal history; he did have outstanding arrest warrants for T.P.S.O for felony theft and felony criminal damage to property. A $20,000 bond was set on those charges.
Deputy Donald Bourg's condition still remains critical but stable.
