NEW ORLEANS—
A Louisiana woman and a Kentucky man have
pleaded guilty to embezzling nearly $13 million from a Gretna oil
company.Forty-six-year-old Donna White of Avondale and 44-year-old Daniel Kinney, of Whitesville, Ky., pleaded guilty Monday to one count of mail fraud.
The U.S. attorney's office in New Orleans says White and Kinney stole checks and money from John W. Stone Oil Distributor LLC. in Gretna between 1995 and 2007. Prosecutors say White reviewed payments at Stone Oil, a midstream and dock-fueling business, and Kinney was her sister's boyfriend.
Authorities allege the stolen funds were used to pay personal expenses, gambling and to fund a racing company, Premier Motorsports, which was run by Kinney. Premier Motorsports competed in the NASCAR Busch Series and other racing series' events for the past 10 years.
White and Kinney face up to 20 years in prison and a fine of $250,000. Sentencing is set for March 11.
