Holden, LA—
State Fire Marshals are trying to determine how a mobile home caught fire taking the life of a mother and her 7 year old daughter. Family in Holden, LA say they were asleep when fire spread.
Three other children and the father made it out.
By the time the victim’s dad moved two vehicles away from the mobile home with a tractor, it was too late, “They were still in the trailer,” says Joel Newman who lost his daughter and granddaughter in the fire. “It got so black I couldn’t see it then. There wasn’t nothing I could do but watch it burn.”
One of the children suffered burns to both hands.
Investigators found no working smoke detectors.
