Couple Jailed In Drug Death
Authorities say a St. Bernard Parish couple was arrested after letting a man who had overdosed on heroin die at their home without calling for medical help.

St. Bernard Parish sheriff's deputies say 24-year-old Kristopher Howse and his wife, 25-year-old Shelly, both of Meraux, were booked Wednesday with negligent homicide and obstruction of justice in the death of 24-year-old Chase Julian of Arabi.

Deputies say the two apparently feared they would be arrested for drug possession if they summoned medical help for Julian.

Officials said the Howses also were booked with contributing to the delinquency of their young daughters, who were in the home when Julian died.

The couple remains in the St. Bernard Parish Prison.

It wasn't immediately clear if the Howses have an attorney.
