THIBODAUX, La - A court day for a former Assumption Parish Sheriff's deputy accused of kidnapping and raping women motorists while on duty has been delayed.

Michael Pintado was scheduled to appear in District Judge Alvin Turner's Napoleonville court Monday for a pretrial hearing.

Instead, it was delayed and reset for Jan. 25. The Courier reports the reason for the delay was not immediately clear.

Pintado was arrested June 13, 2008, for allegedly kidnapping and raping a woman suspected of driving drunk on La. Highway 1 in Labadieville. Days later, two additional women made similar allegations against Pintado.

Pintado was indicted by a grand jury Oct. 8, 2008, on charges of sexual battery, kidnapping, obscenity, battery and malfeasance.
